The Plant People Come From a Mysterious Realm ...
The Plant People come from a mysterious realm, very close, and yet very far away, and though you could not arrive there by walking, nor sailing, not flying, it is just one step away. One very special step ... a step through a Wanderer's Gate.
Their world is a very similar to ours and exists on the cusp of our reality. And as far as most are concerned ... it does not exist at all.
However, in ancient times loopholes existed and the Plant People moved freely between their realm and ours. Trading and interacting peacefully with humans.
Then a Great Catastrophe came and the Plant People were forced to shut the Wanderer's Gates to prevent the catastrophe (now known as "The Flood") from overflowing into their world.
Once all the Wanderer's Gates were closed it would take a miracle to forge a new one. For the creation of a Wanderer's Gate requires participation from both realms.
However ... a celestial phenomenon caused one of these holes to open into the sewers of Manhattan and ...
